My name is Nikole Tower, and I’m a journalism student at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. I am also pursuing a minor in music. I plan on graduating in the winter of 2018. Currently, I am a reporter and the arts and entertainment editor for ASU’s Downtown Devil and intern at AZ Big Media. I also freelance for Phoenix Magazine after interning with them in spring 2017. I’m looking forward to making a career in music journalism, with hopes of someday working with Alternative Press magazine. I also have a love for stories that cover local communities, cultures and travel. I’ve been reading National Geographic since I could read, and those journalists were the first that I looked up to.

I am an Arizona native, born and raised. I have a lot of love for my home state from the mountains to monsoons. I have plans of traveling as much of the world as I can (whether for personal leisure or through work). My interest lies in music journalism and magazine writing, but I’ve always been intrigued by nature/science/travel magazines like I mentioned earlier. My love for writing began young, but I didn’t commit to magazine writing until my senior year of high school. I was a writer and copy editor for Red Mountain High School’s Roar Magazine.
I have a personal blog that includes reviews of new albums, concerts and an “Artist to Watch” feature. I’m an amateur photographer at best, but I’m also willing to learn. While I’m at Cronkite, I’m looking forward to learning about feature writing and multimedia journalism. Outside of journalism, I have taken two years of Spanish in high school and one in college. I have also taken a year of Sign Language, and will continue to take courses in the language during my junior year.
At the moment, I work within the Guest Services department at both Chase Field and Talking Stick Resort Arena and in ASU’s University Center at the Information Desk.
